Riga City Festival 2018 was attended by more than 230 000 people


Riga City Festival 2018 — Riga’s 817th birthday — this year was celebrated commemorating Latvia’s Centenary and the 150th anniversary of Riga Latvian Society, friends, relatives and neighbours were invited to city’s parks and squares, to sport and culture centres to celebrate. Festival was attended by more than 230 000 people — Riga’s inhabitants, city guests from Latvia’s regions and tourists from foreign countries.

For three days Riga City Festival’s visitors were able to attend more than 40 festival locations and participate in a variety of exciting events and sports activities and to watch visually impressive, magnificent and musically rich programmes. Everyone had the opportunity to be an active participant or a supporter of the celebration, an interested listener or a careful observer. v Chairman of the Riga City Council Nils Ušakovs expresses his gratitude to festival’s participants, organizers, the responsible departments and, of course, the visitors for their interest and for together creating a festive atmosphere in the city.

Riga City Festival is organized by Riga City Council in cooperation with the Freeport of Riga Authority and the Riga Tourism Development Bureau. This event was planned by the Education, Culture and Sports Department of the Riga City Council together with event organizers — companies and public organizations.
