This concert cycle offers to bring people along on a thrilling musical journey to 17th and 18th century Riga introducing them to notable personalities from that time that have worked for or contributed to the life in the influential and culturally rich Hanseatic City.

During the Riga City Festival there will be an opportunity to hear early music professionals from Latvia — baroque orchestra Collegium Musicum Riga, baroque choir Collegium Choro Musici Riga, the only historical woodwind ensemble so far in the Baltics Stadt-Hautboisten Riga and some great soloists under the direction of conductor Māris Kupčs, actor Ivo Martinsons from the Valmiera Drama Theatre, as well as outstanding foreign chamber music groups — the most popular new generation early music ensemble in Europe in 2017 El Gran Teatro del Mundo from Switzerland, the historical clarinet group TutzFrequenz from Germany, as well as early music ensemble 4 Times Baroque from Germany, which will perform as part of the Riga Historical Music and Dance Festival 2018.
