Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the establishing the twinning relations between Riga and Suzhou in the People's Republic of China, this year's Riga Festival will feature Suzhou dancers with traditional dance performances.
The Chinese Square Dance takes exercise and performance as a whole, using a special form and warm and cheerful performances of collective dance, to achieve the goal of fitness in both the body and the mind.
The Square Dance Association of Wujiang District, Songling Branch is a folk dance social organization, active in various cultural plaza and other stages around the city of Suzhou. Their dances such as "Hey up", "Zhaxi Dale", "New City Reverie", "Happy Four Seasons", and "Who do not say my hometown is good" have won awards in various competitions.
The dancing ladies believe that the Chinese Square Dance is a bridge for exchange activities of folk art and culture.
With the classic dance and the traditional costume “qipao”, Rhythm of the Taihu Lake is a combination of the beauties of the soft culture of South Yangtze River Delta and the unique features of the Taihu Lake. Like a poem, the dance shows the different sides of the lake in different times, which is highly generated, inspiring and mobilizing the audience's unique feelings, giving endless imagination of art space.
Qipao Beauties with its flowing melody, elegant dance, chic and poetic atmosphere fully embodies the virtuous, elegant and gentle temperament of the Chinese women, as well as the beautiful scenery of small bridges and flowing water in South Yangtze River Delta of China.
