Festival “Riga Textile Mosaic 2017” is a collection of art that showcases the newest Latvian and international textile mosaic art works. This year’s theme is green living.
Riga Tourism and Creative Industries Technicum Graduates will model this Festival’s opening ceremony costumes, created with the use of textile mosaic techniques. The Festival will also exhibit St. Petersburg textile mosaic group’s exhibition “And the story begins …”, and France’s textile mosaic Association's exhibition “France’s inheritance – Occitania” (Francijas mantojums – Oksitānija).
Latvia’s textile mosaic Association's exhibition will be viewable in a themed gallery entitled “Living Green” that will also hold an international mini-quilt contest “Roots”; six European Quilt Association partners’ cooperative project “A greeting from….”; and a children’s gallery “My Garden” comprising of Latvia’s School and Vocation Education Center youth and children’s art.
Those who are interested will have an opportunity to learn more about textile mosaic technique during the workshops. Festival exhibitions can be seen until the 9th of September.
