Public Transport

The City Council's public transport, night transport and car parks can be used for free during the Rīga Festival

In order to ensure convenient access for city residents and guests to Riga Festival event locales, on August 17th and 18th public transport and nighttime busses will be provided atno charge

Metered parking spots serviced by the “Rīgas satiksme” company, including those in Old Rīga, may be used at no charge on August 17th and 18th, except for parking spots by the Congress Hall – there payment will be required for vehicle parking.

Since also this year the city’s guests and residents are being offered a broad spectrum of programmes, public transport schedules will be adjusted to the locales of festival events, transport vehicles with greater capacity will be deployed, and on certain routes public transport vehicles will be making additional runs, depending on passenger flows.

On August 16th and 17th, due to the events on Lucavsala, the route of trolleybus 19 will be serviced with trolleybuses having additional capacity. Furthermore, busses 40 and 42 will stop to discharge and pick up passengers at the Lucavsala stop in the direction of Ziepniekkalns.

At nighttime from August 17th to 18th, public transport on various routes will be providing service until midnight, while during the night from August 18th to 19th, public transport on various routes will be providing service until 1:00 am. There will be supplemental service on the routes with the greatest passenger flow:

  • trolleybus routes no. 9, 14, 15,17, 18, 22, and 27;

Due to the festival events at Spilve airport, on August 17th from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm busses will be servicing the route Daugavgrīvas iela – Spilve Airport.

On August 18th, due to the events taking place on the Grand Stage and in Riga Zoo, both in Mežaparks, tram no. 11 will be running more frequently from 10:00 am to 7:30 pm – at 6-7 minute intervals.

Nighttime public transport will be provided in the night from August 16th to 17th starting midnight and in the night from August 17th to 18th starting at 1:00 am, because until 1:00 am regular public transport schedules will be maintained (busses, trolleybuses and trams). Nighttime service will be provided to passengers at no cost. Nighttime public transport will be provided on nine bus routes in the night from Friday to Saturday and from Saturday to Sunday. The nighttime public transport routes have been planned so as to provide service to most urban residential areas with the greatest populations. The final stop in the city centre for the nighttime public bus transport will be the Station square/Central station stop (Stacijas laukums/Centrālā stacija).
