The traditional twenty-four hour basketball marathon right in the heart of Rīga is now the largest open-air basketball event in the Baltics. The participants are made up of two teams - the residents of the right and left banks of the Daugava. |
Event Description:
The first twenty-four hour basketball tournaments took place in 2010 and 2011 as part of the Rīga Festival and the Port of Rīga Festival with the aim of promoting basketball, a healthy lifestyle and Rīga as a sporting city.
The first tournament finished with a victory by the Daugava left bank (1417:1326), whereas last year the right bank avenged itself with a result of 1311:1155.
The "Match of the Riverbanks" is not only a sporting, but also a recreational cultural event, where Rīga's best DJ's will perform, and other activities associated with basketball culture will take place all day and all night during the basketball game - cheer girls, street gymnasts, BMX and trial shows, football freestyle and other performances.
