About the festival

Every fall when apples are falling and dahlias are ready to bloom, when summer's end is already palpable but the air still bears the scent of sunny days, RIGA CELEBRATES ITS CITY FESTIVAL.

The Riga City Festival dates to 2001, when the Riga 800 agency surprised the city with the first festivities to celebrate the 800^th anniversary of Riga's founding on a grand scale. Latvia's famous Song and Dance celebration was dedicated to the capital city that year. Residents and visitors alike celebrated the history, present and future of the Baltic metropolis with song and dance at the Skonto Stadium and the amphitheatre at Mežaparks.
