Changes to public transportation routes and timetables during the Riga City Festival

During the Riga City Festival there will be some changes to regular public transport routes (bus, trolley, and tram) as well as departure times. Please note that all public transport will be FREE OF CHARGE for both residents and visitors during both days of the Festival, 21 and 22 August.

Latvia Post will operate a special City Festival sales point

On Saturday the 21st of August, when Riga's residents and visitors will celebrate at the City Festival, Latvia Post (Latvijas Pasts) will be celebrating, too! The postal service has prepared unique postcards for the event. They will only be available on this one day at the Festival sales point, so those interested in acquiring this singular souvenir for themselves or as a gift for friends and family shouldn't miss the opportunity.

On Saturday, August 21st, during the Riga City Festival, the contemporary art project kim? invites everyone to visit its latest project: Art Summer at Spīķeri - O!Karte's Open Studios at Makavas iela 12/1. The Fourth Stage of the Triatel xRace Will Finish at the Riga City Festival

The Fourth Stage of the Triatel xRace will take place on the 22nd of August during the City Festival. "It's both a challenge and a great pleasure to organize the race in Riga, especially at the time of the festival," Jānis Vanags, the race's organizer, said. Even two weeks before the race, over 115 teams had already registered to take part.

THE RIGA CITY FESTIVAL WILL FEATURE THE ANNUAL FIREWORKS COMPETITION

On August 21st at the Embankment on the right bank of the Daugava (11. novembra krastmala), the Riga Festival will hold the fourth annual Fireworks Competition. From 11:00 pm to midnight spectators will be able to experience a thrilling show and vote for their favourite fireworks displays. As in previous years, the winning pyrotechnical wizards will be awarded the right to produce fireworks for significant city celebrations over the coming year.

 

PĒRKONS ROCKS DZEGUŽKALNS!

On Dzegužkalns - Cuckoo Hill, Riga's highest hill - the City Festival will really rock! On August 21st at 8:00 pm, the legendary rock group Pērkons ("Thunder," also the ancient god of thunder) will celebrate thirty years since its earthshaking rhythms changed Latvian music forever.

A diverse programme of folk music will await those celebrating the City Festival in Riga's lovely Vērmanes dārzs, the central park created by the widowed Anna Gertrud Wöhrmann in 1817. Music lovers who want to hear their favourite tunes and see their best loved performers won't be disappointed, and even those less familiar with Latvian folk are certain to be entranced. With concerts going on all day in the open-air auditorium, visitors will be able to savour the entire spectrum of  the music for which Latvia is famous.
